Getting Played by Mia Storm Blog

Getting Played - Mia Storm
Released: May 25, 2015
Series: Jail Bait #2
Genre: NA, Contemporary, Romance

Rules of the game:
1) Never underestimate your opponent
2) Avoid personal fouls
3) Score early and often
4) Play or get played

Coach Marcus Leon has always played by the rules…until he meets Addaline Grace, the seventeen-year-old senior transfer on his Oak Crest High water polo team. Addie changes all the rules, mostly because she doesn’t play any games. But as off limits as she is, the more Marcus discovers about Addie, the more he finds himself…and the more he questions whether Addie might just be worth risking everything for.

For Addie, water polo is anger management. She’s driven and focused because it keeps her mind off other things…like the fact she destroyed her family. Her game plan is to keep her head down and graduate so she can leave her father and the crappy town he dragged her to in her wake. But when what starts as friendly completion with Marcus turns into more than a game, Addie has to decide if she’s willing to face down her demons…and possibly ruin the man she may or may not be falling in love with in the process.

What happens when the only thing you need is the one thing you can’t have?

Like most that have read and enjoyed Getting Dirty by Mia Storm, I was more than ecstatic to get my hands on the second title of the Jail Bait series. While I didn’t enjoy Getting Played as much as I did with Getting Dirty, I still could not put this my reader down.

Staying to true it predecessor’s theme this story is told with a dual POV telling the forbidden love story of Marcus Leon and Addaline Grace.

We were given a brief introduction to Marcus when we met his sister Blaire with Getting Dirty. Marcus has been a star athlete for most of his life and now that he’s the new coach of Oak Crest High water polo team. Currently he’s a tad bitter about being overlooked for the P.E. and so to help make ends meet he has a second job at a local job. To make his life even better he has to play nice with his new brother in-law Caiden.

While wanting quiet time at the local park, on “his” bench, but instead of finding it empty he finds seventeen year old Addaline / Addie. Addie has just relocated to Oak Crest High with her father. She’s currently dealing with some dark ghosts from her past and a father with a heavy drinking problem.

Of course this was a super adorable story full of angst, heartache, and drama. I think what held me back from enjoying Getting Played as much is because the entire time I couldn’t get over of much of a hypocrite Marcus was. His dislike for his brother in-law’s actions are his own and it made me absolutely crazy.

I can’t wait until Ms. Storm’s comes with something new because that would be a definite must read for me.
